Truly Worthwhile Project
Rory Hafford attends the launch of Valerie Twomey’s book, Truly Tasty and finds a reference that will give hope and comfort to kidney patients the world over.
Val Twomey was just 37 when she was told she had a potentially deadly condition. Her kidneys were bunched. Kaput! Done for! In medical terms, she had ‘end stage renal failure’. No stranger to patients – Val had worked as a doctor’s assistant for many years previously – she now became a patient herself, just like the many that she had looked after.
The diagnosis of kidney failure didn’t come as a complete shock.
